Socialization and Homeschooling

"When my husband and I first considered homeschooling our two children, the most common response from friends and family was: “What about socialization?” It’s a legitimate question. Every parent who has pondered teaching their children at home has thought long and hard about it. Regardless of educational choice, most parents I’ve met fervently hope their children will grow up to be well-balanced, independent, thoughtful and contributing members of society. We all want our children to lead fulfilling lives full of meaning, and we implicitly recognize that relationships with peers will play a significant role in accomplishing that goal."
